THINGS OF INTEREST TO DO IN THE AREA
There are loads of things to do in the area, here are a few suggestions, we are not putting any links in here but quite easy on google maps.
Chateau d’Escalan (Whispering Angel) – 40-minute drive from the villa, on the same road are many other vineyards to visit.
Chateau Saint-Martin – near the coastal town of Sainte-Maxime (50 minutes). There is also a regular boat shuttle between Sainte-Maxime and Saint-Tropez (saves on the horrible traffic known on this road in the summer), we would say this a fantastic day out.
Chateau de Berne – famous for its square bottle and not your 5 euro bottle of wine! Almost 1 hour drive from the house but they have gorgeous grounds as well as a great bistro so worth the drive.
Gliding at the Aeroclub – drive out of Fayence and its about 5 minutes on the right. If you would like to do this we would suggest you drive down there and check the availability. It is around 100 euros per person for 20 minutes in the air. The gliders path goes over our house.
Lac de Saint- Cassien – you would have driven past this on your way from the Airport, its about 30 minutes from the house. Fantastic for a fun day out. Fresh water, padellos with shoots off it!, fabulous, also some great little cafes for lunch right on the waterfront.
Gorges du Verdon – Stunning freshwater lake and gorge about 1 hour drive towards the West. If you decide to go here you should stop off at the lavender fields on the way at Sainte-Croix du Verdon.
There are a few tennis courts dotted around the area both in Fayence and Seillans – pre-booking necessary, please let us know if you would like any more information on this.
Golf at the Terre Blanche, girls can spend a day at the spa!
This part of the Var is famous for its villages ‘perches’. Explore these beautiful medieval hilltop villages. Seillans is one of 8 “perched villages” in the Pays de Fayence, situated in the north-east Var region. The 7 others are: Callian, Fayence, Montauroux, Tanneron, Tourettes, Saint-Paul-en-Forêt and Mons. Most villages offer interesting shopping:- local produce, pottery, antiques and of course plenty of restaurants for all tastes an budgets.
The glamorous beaches of Cannes & St Tropez. St Raphael and Frejus are just 30 minutes, traffic depending. So whether you prefer to lie by the fabulous pool all day and avoid the crowds, go mountain biking, play golf, hike, go wine tasting, climbing, sand buggies, horse riding, shopping, diving, or gliding, the list is endless and the choice is yours.
